The most expensive production car in NZ
After the initial press release, OCD were welcomed to Highlands to perform a restoration & enhancement detail on the Aston Martin Vulcan - not only to correct any light defecting but bring out a superior finish to when it was initially delivered. This is not only a huge privilege but a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for OCD. A tribute to the Avro Vulcan V bomber of the 1950's; the Southern Hemisphere's only Aston Martin Vulcan resides right here in New Zealand, based at the Highlands Motorsport Park. With a whopping $4.2 million dollar price tag the Aston Martin Vulcan is the most expensive production car to be sold in New Zealand. The Vulcan presented a unique challenge, due to the fact it needed to stay inside the museum for detailing. We took the basis of our Stage 4 package and applied it in a way to produce minimal noise and dust - starting with a thorough quick detail clean thorough decontamination of the paintwork (of which we found minute traces of iron filings and rubber). We then proceeded to cut and polish the vehicle using a combination of machine and hand application - finishing with a glaze, synthetic sealant and carnauba wax. All other exterior surfaces were cleaned and treated leaving the car in true show condition. Truly amazing was the amount of shine we managed to create from the paintwork and carbon fiber and the sheer amount of metallic fleck that came through from the paintwork. |

2017 Concours d'Elegance
2016 Concours d'Elegance
1961 Jaguar E-Type 3.8Concours d'Elegance Masters Class Overall Winner Final Finish Paintwork prepared by OCD "Simon was referred onto us by a contact living in Dubai. With only one week to Concours we did some long hours to ensure we could take the opportunity of finishing this beauty off. This is the oldest E-Type in New Zealand and a true honour to have been apart of it's journey to Masters success." |
1970 Porsche 911EWinner - Best Teams Car Winner - Best Club (Porsche Club of NZ) Paintwork prepared by OCD using a Four Stage compound, polish, glaze and wax process "Lovingly restored, this bright orange 911E certainly transformed. While the paintwork was relatively fresh, it had not been properly refinished. Something we were happy to take care of. This particular example scored 45/45 points for paintwork! Simply an amazing result." |
1958 Porsche 356Winner - Best Club (Porsche Club of NZ) Paintwork prepared by OCD using a Four Stage compound, polish, glaze and wax process "Whilst described as being not of Concours condition, the owners were not so sure of what could be achieved with the paint condition as it was; including defects unable to be removed without respraying. We worked with what we had and once our specialist tools, products and techniques were applied we lifted the paint condition and finish ten fold. It was certainly worthy of the winners circle afterwards!" |
2015 Concours d'Elegance
2004 Porsche C4S CabrioletWinner - Best Club (Porsche Club of NZ) Paintwork prepared by OCD using a Finishing polish, final wax and paint touch ups "With two days to go, a local detailing company was called in to perform some magic. The Obsessive Car Detailing guys (gotta love the name) Sam and Christian together with their paint touch up expert, did a stella job and did not disappoint. Interestingly these guys answer to the 0800 number "0800 I'm Dirty". It made for a slightly awkward first phone call." - Helen Day, C4s Owner |
